Inverter Aircon Vs Non Inverter Aircon

There are different types of Air conditioner systems on sale today and at different prices depending on their application. However, one of the main reasons behind the price difference is the Inverter technology usually found in more recent models. One of the biggest misconceptions about air conditioners that have inverter technology is that most people believe these are systems that provide both heating and cooling. However, most air conditioning systems provides these functions.

Inverter Aircon Vs Non Inverter Aircon

Inverter Aircon Units

An inverter system usually included in more recent air conditioning models is a system that allows control of the compressor motor’s speed to provide better temperature regulation. A typical Inverter converts Direct Current into Alternating current; the same applies to Inverter aircon units. In an aircon unit, A rectifier circuit converts incoming Alternating Current into Direct Current. The inverter unit then takes the Direct Current and modulates it at the appropriate frequency to vary compressor motor speed. Varying the compressor motor speed helps achieve more accurate temperature control.

Non-Inverter Aircon Units

Earlier aircon units do not have inverters. Their compressors have fixed speed motors. These systems regulate temperatures by switching off the compressor once the desired temperature is achieved. The temperature control circuit is much simpler than that found in inverter units. Despite the availability of a more improved technology, non inverter aircon units are still on sale, and they are much cheaper than the advanced inverter aircon models.

Inverter aircon vs non inverter aircon

As a consumer, you may be wondering which system you should buy. When it comes to a comparison of the Inverter aircon vs non inverter aircon the more recent Inverter technology has the upper hand. Here are some of the advantages of Inverter Aircon's

Lower energy consumption

Inverter aircon's are cheaper to run. They provide energy savings by as high as 50%. Thanks to the variable compressor speed, once the desired temperature is achieved, the compressors can run on very low energy to maintain this temperature. Non inverter systems switch the compressors off, and turn them back on once the temperature has changed, the compressor then begins to draw current in an attempted to pull down the temperature back to the desired setting, this is a continuous cycle that leads to high energy consumption.

Inverter Aircon Vs Non Inverter Aircon

Faster Temperature Change

Inverter Aircon systems achieved the desired temperatures faster than non inverter system. The control system kicks up the compressor’s speed depending on how big the difference is between the actual temperatures and the set temperature is, allowing for faster temperature pull down as opposed to non inverter units which keep their compressors running at a constant temperature at all times.

Minimum Temperature Fluctuation

Temperature fluctuations are almost impossible to notice when you use inverter aircon systems. Inverter units leave the compressors on but at a lower speed setting in order to hold the temperature at the set level. When non inverter aircon system switch off after the set temperature is achieved, the temperatures immediately begin to rise during the time the compressor is switched off and will only come back on once the temperature changes beyond a specified setting. Inverter units, therefore, offer a higher comfort level.

Much Quieter Operation

Thanks to the varying motor speeds, inverter aircon systems have a much quieter operation than non inverter units, making them ideal for areas where low noise interference is desired.

Low Repair and maintenance costs

Since non inverter aircon units switch on and off, these means that the compressor has to keep dealing with sharp temperature fluctuations which mean constant loading of the compressor unit. The motors’ constant switching on and off also leads to faster degradation of its parts. Aircon units that have an inverter do not suffer the frequent load fluctuation; with the ability to vary motor speed the starting current is also much lower. The result is very safe operation that ensures the unit runs for ages before breaking down.

The only down side to Inverter AC units is that they are more expensive to purchase. However, this is a small price to pay given the energy savings and the reduced running costs you enjoy as opposed to running the lower priced Non Inverter units, which can lead to more energy consumption, as high as 40% and higher maintenance costs. Inverter Aircon units offer the best value for money.

Testimonials
They are certainly a professional aircon company. The technicians are really well trained, they came up and did a check on my aircon and suggested we need to do 1 chemical cleaning and 1 general servicing. After servicing, aircon is working perfectly and much cooler. Highly recommended
